In 1991 Daniel Farson set out to complete a journey that his father had begun in 1929: to cross the Klukhor Pass in the Caucus on horseback.
Envisaging a gentle cruise down the Volga followed by an idyllic trek across a stunning mountain range, the reality of his journey took Daniel Farson by surprise. But despite the discomforts and inconveniences of travelling (including a distinct lack of alcohol on board the Pipkin and visits from the KGB, for this coincided with the 1991 Coup), Farson recalls the friendships, the overwhelming hospitality he received in the Caucasus, and the sheer thrill of adventure that characterized his remarkable quest
