Kip Calder and Brice McCarthy were born on the same day in 1944 in Los Alamos during the secret years of the Manhattan Project and the first nuclear tests. As young boys, growing up in this closed community, they became the best of friends but were to follow different paths as they grew into manhood: Brice to become an anti-Vietnam activist; Kip to fight in Nixon's covert war in Laos.
