A Solitary Voice
The Voice of Free Earth is a book of stories set in Free Earth - a mythical farming community in California's rural San Joaquin Valley. They are the stories of Christopher Beale, something of a chronicle of his boyhood experiences as the son of a larger than life country doctor, Doc Beale. Christopher is alone and isolated, emotionally paralyzed by his fear of his father, and mesmerized by the sights and sounds of this place called Free Earth. Told with simple words, they are stories about simple and important things. They are told in the sometimes sad, sometimes happy, but always solitary voice of Christopher.
