In June 1995. scholars from France, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Sweden, and the United States gathered at the sixth annual PLA conference in Coolfont, West Virginia, to scrutinize China's People's Liberation Army. This volume examines a thousand years of military history and also studies the role of PLA Chairman Jiang Zemin, the PLA's military capacities, and the importance of the PLA in China's future.
